High school student accused of assaulting police resource officer

An Elyria High School student allegedly k i cked a school resource officer in the groin March 11 after ref using to l eave t he campus, according to an Elyria police report.

Jazmin M. Davis, 18, is facing a felony count of assault on a police officer and misdemeano­r counts of resisting arrest, disorderly conduct persisting and criminal trespassin­g.

At 2:50 p.m., a school resource officer was in the Elyria High dining hall monitoring school dismissal and asked everyone to leave the premises, the report said.

All of the students in the area complied except for Davis, who allegedly ignored repeated requests to vacate, according to the report.

She began loudly stating she did not have to go anywhere, and yelled expletives at the officer, the report said.

In attempting to place David under arrest, a struggle ensued and she attempted to break free from the officer and struck him in the groin area with her leg while on the ground, the report said.

The strike caused immediate pain to the officer’s testicles, according to the report.

Davis was transporte­d to the Lorain County Jail and is being held on $6,500 bond. She was arraigned in Elyria Municipal Court on March 12 and has a preliminar­y hearing at 2 p.m. March 14.
