• Clippers (62-48): TripleA Columbus put another mark in the win column defeating the Indianapol­is Indians, 5-1, on Aug. 2. Eric Haase went 2-for-4 and hit his third triple that scored birthday boy Mark Mathias. Bobby Bradley, Ryan Flaherty and Yu Chang all doubled. Flaherty went 1-for-3 with two RBI. Chang and Bradley went 1-for4, and Chang had an RBI. Michael Peoples improved to 8-5 on the mound. He threw six innings, gave up seven hits, two runs, two walks and struckout three. Jon Edwards got his second save. He threw the final out, gave up no hits or runs, walked and struck out one.

• RubberDuck­s (49-62): Mayfield High School product Mitch Longo went 1-for4 with a double and a run in Double-A Akron’s loss to the Bringhamto­n Rumble Ponies, 3-2. The Ducks had four hits. Connor Marabell contribute­d two in four at-bats plus a run, and Nelli Rodriguex went 1-for-3 with a double.

• Hillcats (50-57): The Salem Red Sox doubled the amount of runs advanced Single-A Lynchburg had in a 6-3 win. Gavin Collins hit his second triple with the Hillcats and went 1-for-3 with a run. Tyler Freeman doubled along with Wilbis Santiago. They went 1-for-4 and Freeman had an RBI. Steven Kwan also went 1-for-4 with an RBI. Cody Farhat and Luke Wakamatsu went 1-for-4 and scored a run.

• Captains (62-47): Jonathan Engelmann went 2-for-4 with a homer and Matt Turner improved to 2-0 in Single-A Lake County’s win over the Lansing Lugnuts, 5-1. Jose Fermin and Josh Rolette also went 2-for-4 and Bo Naylor went 2-for-3. Rolette hit a double and had two RBI. Newcomer Clark Scolamiero went 1-for-4 with a run. He hit lead off and played right field. Turner threw five, surrendere­d a hit, no runs, walked four and struck out three.

• Scrappers (22-25): The Yankees of Staten Island got the best of short-season Single-A Mahoning Valley, beating the Scrappers 3-2. Julian Escobedo went 1-for-5 with a double and a run. Yainer Diaz also doubled and went 1-for-4, and Raynel Delgado doubled and went 2-for-4. Will Brennan scored the second run and went 1-for-3.
