Lorain County Sheriff Phil R. Stammitti and his staff are kicking off the fifth annual “Cram the Cruiser Campaign.”

During the week of the Lorain County Fair — Aug. 19-25 — a Sheriff’s Office patrol cruiser will be parked just inside the main gate at the Lorain County Fairgrounds, 23000 Fairgrounds Road in Wellington, according to a news release from the Sheriff’s Office.

The goal is to fill the cruiser with school supplies as many times as possible during the week of the Fair.

Visitors at the fair are asked and encouraged to bring school supplies to help “Cram the Cruiser.”

The following school supplies are needed: No. 2 pencils, colored pencils, large pin erasers, Crayons box of 16, spiral-bound notebooks, pocket folders, highlighters, index cards, ball point pens, water-based markers, glue sticks, drawing paper, plastic boxes, rulers and protractors, scotch tape, loose leaf notebook paper and 4-ounce bottles of white glue.

Any business, organization or citizen that would like to donate supplies, but will not attend the Fair, can drop their donation off at the Sheriff’s Office lobby, 9896 Murray Ridge Road in Elyria, or contact the Sheriff’s Office at 440-329-3844 and arrangements will be made to collect your donation, the release said.

Support of this event is appreciated and donations of any size have a positive impact, the release said.
