Forror selected to council
Forror, currently serving as a firefighter, chosen during Aug. 15 council meeting
Daniel Forror has been selected by Sheffield Village Council to be its newest member.
Forror, 30, who currently works as a firefighter for the Sheffield Lake Fire Department, was chosen during the Aug. 15 Sheffield Council meeting and will fill the seat previously held by Jean Ackerman who resigned July 22.
“I grew up on Berkeley (Drive)... and I graduated from Brookside (High School) in 2007,” Forror said. “I have a lot of friends and family who live in the village. It makes me want to be involved and makes me want nothing but the best for Sheffield Village. I really enjoy this community, I like the path it’s on and I’d like to contribute to that.”
Forror said he has always been interested in serving the public.
“That’s one of the reasons why I became a firefighter,” he said. “I wanted to serve the community in another role, as well, and this gave me the opportunity to do that.”
Forror said he only recently considered a position on council.
“I never considered it as I came up,” he said. “Over the past couple of years, I’ve been thinking about it and the opportunity arose.”
Forror said one of the areas he would like to work on his public safety for the village.
“I want to thank Matt (Matthew Bliss) for offering up his position to me on the public safety council,” he said. “I’m interested
in public safety; the village has great police and fire departments...and I want to give them resources.”
Forror said he has something unique to offer Sheffield Village Council.
“I want to bring a unique perspective,” he said. “I have a certain way of going about things, and I look forward to furthering what council is doing.”
Forror referenced his experience as a firefighter and that it would help him in his new role.
“With my background in public service, being on the fire department, I enjoy talking with residents,” he said. “I enjoy problem solving, we run into problems every day in the job I’m in, and we need to work creatively to solve the problems efficiently. I enjoy the stress and pressure, it’s kind of a motivator for me...I just want to do nothing but the best for the village.”
