• Clippers (71-53): Ka’ai Tom homered and doubled in a doublehead­er against the Charlotte Knights on Aug.

17. Triple-A Columbus split the twinbill. The lost Game 1, 7-6 and won Game 2, 3-2. Yu Change and Daniel Johnson went 2-for-4 in Game 1. Both hit doubles and scored once. Chang had three RBI and Johnson one. Bobby Bradley went 1-for-4 with a homer and Tom went 3-for-3. James Hoyt pitched the bottom 1 1⁄3 innings in the Game 2 win. He didn’t give up a hit, run or walk and struck out two. Tom and Chang doubled. Tom went 1-for-3 and Chang and Johnson went 2-for3. Chang scored once and Johnson had two RBI.

• RubberDuck­s (56-68): Mayfield High School grad Mitch Longo went 1-for-4 with a double, Ernie Clement went 1-for-5 with a double and Alexis Pantoja hit a homer and went 2-for-4 in Double-A Akron’s win against the Erie SeaWolves, 3-2. Jake Paulson earned the win. He pitched 3 2⁄3 innings, surrendere­d three hits, no runs, no walks and struck out four. Dalbert Siri earned his 10th save. He threw two-thirds of an inning, and didn’t give up any hits, runs or walks.

• Hillcats (57-63): The Carolina Mudcats rallied for five runs in the ninth for a 8-7 victory against advanced Single-A Lynchburg. Jason Rodriguez hit a double and went 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI. Mitch Reeves and Tyler Freeman went 2-for-5. Both scored once, Reeves had two RBI and Freeman one.

• Captains (68-55): Clark Scolamiero homered for the third time in the last four games in Single-A Lake County’s win against the West Michigan Whitecaps, 6-3. Scolamiero went 1-for2 with two runs and an RBI. Quentin Holmes hit a double and went 1-for-5 with a run. Bo Naylor went 2-for-5 with a run. Johnathan Engelmann went 1-for-5 with two RBI. In his fifth game with Lake County Ulysses Cantu went 1-for-3 with a run. Kellen Rholl improved to 3-4 from the mound with the win. He threw two innings, surrendere­d two hits, no runs, walked one and fanned four. Jake Miednik earned his third save. He pitched two innings, gave up one hit, no runs, walked one and struck out two.

• Scrappers (29-31): Michael Cooper and Yainer Diaz hit triples in shortseaso­n Single-A Mahoning Valley’s defeat of the Batavia Muckdogs, 11-2. Both Cooper and Diaz went 2-for-5. Diaz scored twice and Cooper contribute­d three RBI. Cooper also hit a double along with Julian Escobedo. Escobedo went 1-for-3 with a run. Eric Mock earned his first win in three innings of work surrenderi­ng a hit, no runs, two walks and five K’s. Luis Sanchez got his third save. He didn’t give up a hit or run, walked one and struck out five in three innings.
