Open house shows off Vintage Crossing
The community was invited Aug. 15 to welcome the newest business to Vermilion.
Vintage Crossing opened its doors to the public for an open house at its new location at 2813 Liberty Ave.
The creative lighting and home decor shop was located at 201 Park Ave. in Amherst.
Tim Olney owns the shop along with his wife, Jean Olney.
Olney said the new shop received a fair number of visitors during the open house.
“It’s been going very well,” he said. “We’ve had a good turnout.”
The open house featured a ribbon-cutting with Vermilion Mayor Jim Forthofer and the Lorain County Chamber of Commerce, as well as free pizza later in the day.
Olney said some of his customers from Amherst as well as new costumers had been making their way through the store throughout
the day.
He said the move was easy in some ways and difficult in others.
“(It was) very easy when it comes to Vermilion and them helping us,” Olney said. “(It was) very difficult
when it comes to that we have over 1,000 products.
“Difficult in the sense
that we have so many different products to move over here and our store was crammed in Amherst. So we brought it here, it gives us a little more space.”
Olney said the business still is planning to build a warehouse behind the store, hopefully, by the end of the year.
Eventually, the Olneys plan to build a rentable meeting room off to the side of the store.
The store is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. every day except for Sundays when it is closed and Thursdays when it closes at 8 p.m., they said.
