A convicted sex offender who was out of jail on bond is back in custody Aug. 29 after violating the terms of his release.

Corey Hoon, 30, of Cleveland, was released on $250 bond after pleading guilty Aug. 5 to three counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor or impaired person, two counts of illegal use of minor or impaired person in nudityoriented material or performance and single counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, gross sexual imposition and pandering obscenity in two separate cases in Lorain County Common Pleas Court.

Investigators said Hoon, who was already a sex offender after a Cuyahoga County case, had sexual relations and took digital photos of a 15-year-old female family member while visiting relatives in November 2018 and March 2019 in Elyria.

Hoon was released on bond the same day as his plea and was ordered to have no contact with the victim or “any minor with the exception of supervised contact with his son,” according to Lorain County Common Pleas records.

A little over two weeks after he was released from the Lorain County Jail, though, police said he went to his victim’s home, a direct violation of the terms of his release.

The girl’s parent told police that at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 23, Hoon pulled into the family’s driveway where he was met by the girl’s father who told Hoon that he wasn’t allowed on the property, an Elyria police report said.

Police later contacted Hoon by phone and he said that he wanted to surprise his victim’s father. He told police he knew that he wasn’t allowed to have contact with his victim and that he was aware that was where she lived. An officer told him not to return, according to the report.

The same day, Lorain County Common Pleas Court Judge D. Chris Cook revoked Hoon’s bond and issued a warrant for his arrest. Hoon was arrested Aug. 29.

Jail records show Hoon is being held without bond on contempt charges in each case.

His sentencing is currently scheduled for Sept. 12, but court officials said that date is likely to change.
