Protecting right to buy Confederate flag

-

I think it worth repeating that when Conservatives don’t like something, they just don’t buy it.

But when Liberals don’t like something they want to prevent everybody from having it.

I have never owned a Confederate flag. I have no intention of ever owning one even if I got it for free.

But in our land of the free, if someone else wants to buy that flag, they should have that right.

Unfortunately, there are some people in our country who think the American flag, old glory, is a symbol of hate.

There are even a few in Congress that seem to think that way. They don’t have a right to ban our flag.

We have people in America who stomp on our flag and burn it. I don’t like that either, but our Supreme Court says that is the price of free speech. I do own American flags and I treat them with respect.

In some countries where the people do not enjoy our freedoms, books and flags and anything else dictators find offensive are banned.

But hopefully, that will never happen here.

Probably, the people who want to ban the Confederate flag will think my letter is hate speech and want to ban me.

Hate crimes are on the increase, but not because of some flag.

The primary culprit is the “free” press that has abdicated their responsibility of reporting unbiased, well researched facts.

Instead they print near truths and fake news to fan the flames of unrest in America.

When our Founders wrote the First Amendment, their intent was to protect a press that would keep our government honest, not attack our elected officials with dishonest visceral hate.

Hopefully, the press can get back to their original purpose.

We really need that. Don Race New London
