Celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, with a visit to the Oberlin Heritage Center to view a new guest exhibit presented by Lorainbased Museum of Hispanic and Latino Cultures.

Mexican Imagery of Our Lady of Guadalupe is displayed in the Heritage Center’s Monroe House from Sept. 5-21, according to a news release.

The exhibit features representations of the Virgin of Guadalupe, one of the most significant figures of Roman Catholicism, who also is known as patroness of the Americas.

Visitors will learn about the symbolism in her portrayal and how she is tied to Mexico’s religious and social history, according to the release.

The public may view the display as part of the Heritage Center’s guided Upstairs/Downstairs tours offered at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, or during 30-minute drop-in Sneak Peek tours between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

Normal tour fees apply, ranging from $3 to $6 for adults; Heritage Center members and children are free.

The exhibit also will open during the Heritage Center’s fun, free autumn event Root Beer & Yesteryear that takes place from 1-4 p.m., Sept. 8, on the Heritage Center’s campus.
