George Bedecs
George Bedecs, age 92, of Strongsville, formerly of Lorain passed away on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at Southwest Residential Hospice in Strongsville, Ohio.
He was born on April 28, 1927 in Nagyigmand, Hungary to Janos and Katalin (nee Vizkeleti) Bedecs. George came to the United States in 1956. He worked as a machinist in Hungary and when he came to the United States, he began his career at Ford Motor Company in Lorain, retiring in 1986 after 26 ½ years of service.
He was a devoted member of St. Ladislaus Catholic Church in Lorain and upon it’s closing joined the Parish of Nativity BVM Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Hungarian Council and the Friendship Society. George enjoyed fishing and feeding the deer.
He is survived by his daughter, Anna M. (George) Sattelmaier; grandchildren: Anna (Mike) Evans, George (Nakisha) Sattelmaier, and Joseph Sattelmaier; grandchildren: Ashley, Alicia, Natalie, Collin, and Austin; and his devoted friends, Sally and Irwin Shires.
George was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Anna (nee Nagy) Bedecs; parents, Janos and Katalin Bedecs; brother, Janos Bedecs; and his sister, Juliska Varga.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. A Prayer service will be held during the visitation at 5:00 p.m. led by Rev. Father William Krizner. Closing prayers will be held on Thursday, September 5, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral center followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity BVM Catholic Church, 418 W. 15th. Street, Lorain, OH 44052. Rev. Father Robert Glepko, Pastor will officiate, and Rev. Father James Schmitz will con-celebrate. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
