Law Enforcement Use of Force event planned
The Lorain County Chiefs’ Law Enforcement Association announced a training event for the public and media.
The Lorain County Chiefs’ Law Enforcement Association announced a training event for the public and media on Law Enforcement Use of Force will take place Sept. 10.
This event will be held in conjunction with use of force training that is being provided to law enforcement officers from Lorain County and surrounding areas by the Chief’s Association and the Lorain County Community College – Public Safety Institute for Advanced Professional Development, according to a news release.
This planned training is part of an ongoing collaboration with LCCC and the Lorain County Prosecutors Office to provide training to first responders.
Command Presence, a national law enforcement training and consulting company, will present “The Law and the Science: Understanding Police Use of Force,” according to the release.
The no cost event will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at LCCC’s Spitzer Conference Center 1005 N. Abbe Road in Elyria.
This event will not address any specific use of force instances, according to the release.
The intent is to provide education on why law enforcement officers use force, the science behind human performance and its relationship to decision making and law that guides the decisions of both officers and the legal system, the release said.
The event is open to anyone older the age of 14.
