It’s time to stop the killing

-

We are understandably horrified that more mass killings have occurred.

But should we be surprised? St. Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Teresa) said: “If a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell others not to kill?”

Two generations of Americans have grown up being told that the ability to kill grants them the “right to choose” to kill. Every day, this “choice” is exercised as thousands of American children are killed in abortion facilities. The weapons of this “choice” are suction catheters, curette blades, sopher clamps, pills, and poisonous injections.

While it’s illegal to murder using a gun, it remains legal to murder children in an abortion facility using medical instruments turned into deadly weapons.

The way to end the violence that permeates our nation is to return to respecting all human life — born and preborn. We should be just as disturbed by the murder of our preborn brothers and sisters as we are by the murder of those already born.

But are we?

Every human life, from its very beginning, has dignity, value, and worth because every human life is the product of God’s creative genius.

Each of us is unique and unrepeatable. We are wonderfully made to love God and each other. We can overcome a culture of death with a culture of life and love, but only if we respect and protect ALL human life. Human rights begin when human life begins. It’s time to stop the killing.
