Princesses meet cupcakes
Meet and greet with Disney’s Frozen’s princesses takes place at What the Cupcakes in Avon
A flurry of local youngsters got to meet two of their favorite princesses while enjoying baked treats on Jan. 17 at What the Cupcakes in Avon.
Started by Renee Collins in July, 2018, the specialty boutique bakery located at 36795 Detroit Road had some special guests: A meet and greet with “Elsa” and “Anna” from Disney’s “Frozen.”
For Collins, it’s about offering something for everyone in the community as a family-friendly business.
“We get to watch them sing and everything. Then, they go over there and frost and sprinkle a cupcake,” Collins said.
A collaboration between What the Cupcakes and Avon-based Ohio Princess Parties offers something unique and different.
Meredith Traxler and her sister Lizzie performed as Anna and Elsa, leading the youngsters in singing, dancing and interactive games before designing their own Frozen-themed cupcakes. They have performed about 600 times and have taken a liking to the cupcake collaboration.
“We really like coming here. This is a great space, and we have a lot of fun,” said owner Meredith
Traxler.
Collins said she tries to be creative in her offerings in opting for whipped cream style frosting instead of the traditional butter cream in addition to gluten free, vegan and dairy free along with your traditional cupcake staples.
Collins is also the founder of Lorain County Blessing Boxes along with Joe Pullin in placing goods for those in need at eight locations across the county.
“I give back to the community. I think that’s a really important aspect. So, I support the local schools. At the end of the month, I have a big sip and shop so that all small businesses participate and try to support each other.”
She offers discounts so as many people as possible can enjoy her baked goods.
