Cynthia Carter-Smallwood has been appointed executive director of Cornerstone Pregnancy Services, 364 Griswold Road in Elyria, effective Dec. 4.
Carter-Smallwood had served as interim executive director since Aug. 22, according to a news release from Cornerstone Pregnancy Services.
In 1990, Carter-Smallwood was part of the Cornerstone Board, the release said.
In 2011, she was hired as a nurse manager and subsequently served as director of medical services and then as patient resource director.
Carter-Smallwood is a registered nurse, with experience in the health care sector.
She received a bachelor of science in nursing from Ohio State University in 1983.
Her additional education includes an MBA from Baldwin Wallace University, a Bible School Diploma from Global University in Springfield, Mo., and a doctorate of ministry from United Theological
Seminary in Dayton.
Carmen Grondin, director of Finance and Operational Services for Cornerstone, said Carter-Smallwood is religious, hard working and will do the job well.
“During the time that I have worked alongside Cynthia at Cornerstone, I have found her to be extremely hardworking and dedicated to the ministry,” Grondin said. “No job is too big or too small for her ... [doing] everything from performing ultrasounds ... to dumping the waste tank on our mobile ultrasound unit
“She has a fervent love for her family, is faithful in her walk with the Lord, and is a powerful prayer warrior. She is a woman of integrity, tenacious and carries a mantle of authority. She is exceptionally professional and articulate and will represent Cornerstone well to the public.”
