MORNING JOURNAL PLAYER OF THE YEAR WATCH LIST

From now through the end of the season, The Morning Journal will run a list of semifinalists for the high school girls basketball player of the year award.

This year’s player of the year will be announced after the completion of the boys and girls state tournaments. Details will be released at a later date.

Here is this week’s watch list, in alphabetical order. This list is subject to change weekly.

Abby Liber, Avon: A sophomore guard averaging 13 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.

Ally Winnen, Elyria Catholic: A senior forward averaging 17.9 points, 12 rebounds, 2.6assists and 2.3blocks per game.

Allyson Ross, Columbia: A junior guard averaging 20.6 points, 7.8rebounds, 4assists, and 4.7steals per game. Ariana Vazquez, Clearview: A senior forward averaging 14 points, 9.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists, 2 steals and 4.3 blocks per game. Arianna Negron, Avon

Lake: A senior guard averaging 11 points, 5.9 rebounds, 4.2assists and 4.8steals per game.

Carter McCray, Lake Ridge: A freshman center averaging 14.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 2.5steals and 5.8 blocks per game.

Delaney Peters, Keystone: A senior guard averaging 14.9 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3steals per game.

Peters leads the area in 3-pointers made with 56 overall.

Emily McClain, Open Door: A senior guard averaging 21.8points and 2.2steals per game.

Gina Adams, Westlake:

A senior forward averaging 15.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.7assists per game.

Haley Andrejcak, Bay: A senior guard averaging 13.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.1 steals per game.

Isabella Zvara, Firelands: A sophomore forward averaging 10 points, 10.2 rebounds, 2.4steals and 2.7 blocks per game. Zvara is one of four area players averaging a double-double.

Jalen Gibbs, Wellington: A senior forward averaging 19 points and 11.1 rebounds per game.
