Avon tops Olmsted Falls in boys basketball

The Eagles rallied from a 17-point deficit to beat the Bulldogs in a Division I sectional semifinal. Olmsted Falls had won the previous two meetings this year.

From now through the end of the season, The Morning Journal will run a list of semifinalists for the high school boys basketball player of the year award. This year’s player of the year will be announced after the completion of the boys and girls state tournaments. Details will be released at a later date.

Here is this week’s watch list, in alphabetical order. This list is subject to change weekly.

Trajen Chambers, Oberlin: The junior guard is averaging 12.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 3.4 steals per game. He has also made 35 3-pointers.

Gavin Dobbins, Open Door: The junior guard is averaging 22.6 points, 11.7 rebounds, 3.8assists and 2.7steals per game. He has also made 22 3-pointers.

Justin Garcia, Westlake: The junior forward is averaging 17 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.6assists and 1.1 steals per game. He has also made 40 3-pointers

Giles Harrell Jr., Oberlin:

The senior guard is averaging 13.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 3.3assists, 2.9steals and 1block per game. He has also made 35 3-pointers.

Luke Howes, Fairview: The senior guard is averaging 23.8 points, 6.4 rebounds, 4.5assists and 2.5steals per game. He has also made 36 3-pointers.

Jonny Manning, Midview: The senior forward is averaging 18.2 points, 11.6 rebounds, 3.2assists and 2.5 blocks per game.

Christian Pfeiffer, Amherst: The senior forward is averaging 14.2 points, 9.3 rebounds and 3.1 blocks per game. He has also made 18 3-pointers.

Ashton Price, Bay: The junior guard is averaging 24.2points and 3.7assists per game. He has also made 26 3-pointers.

Seth Wilson, Lorain: The junior guard is averaging 13 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game. He has also made 19 3-pointers.

Edward Wright, Elyria Catholic: The senior guard is averaging 20.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 2.5assists and 1.4steals per game. He has also made 46 3-pointers.
