2 facing felony charges

Two Lorain County men were arrested March 1 on felony weapons and drugs charges following a traffic stop.

Xavier Small, 24, of Elyria, and Demitryuss Bryant, 33, of Lorain, were charged with having weapons under disability, a third-degree felony, improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property and carrying concealed weapons, all fourth-degree felonies, according to an Elyria police report.

Bryant also was charged with possession of a schedule II controlled substance, a fifth-degree felony, two counts of acts in contempt of court, an unclassifi­ed misdemeano­r and was cited for marked lanes, a minor misdemeano­r, and driving under suspension, an unclassifi­ed misdemeano­r.

The pair was stopped in the area of Turner and Third streets by police at 12:25 a.m., after Bryant committed traffic violations, the report said.

While searching the vehicle, police found one oxycodone pill, a baggie of marijuana and $2,293 cash on Bryant, according to the report.

Officers also found a loaded 9 mm handgun under the driver’s seat toward the rear passenger compartmen­t between where Small and Bryant were sitting, the report said.

Police also found out the gun was stolen out of Elyria.

Two other passengers in the car were released from the scene.

Bryant is in the Lorain County Jail on a $61,030 bond. Small was at Lorain County Jail on a $31,500 bond.

Both men are scheduled to appear at 1:30 p.m., March 11, before Elyria Municipal Court Judge Robert C. White.
