‘State of Wellington’ breakfast set for March 12

Wellington Kiwanis Club will sponsor its third annual “State of Wellington” breakfast featuring village and school leaders at 8 a.m., March 12, at the Wellington Eagles, 631 St. Main St.

Keynote speakers are Wellington Schools’ Superinten­dent Ed Weber and Treasurer Tina Gabler, Mayor Hans Schneider and Village Manager Steve Dupee, according to Kiwanis news release.

Weber will discuss the need for the upcoming permanent improvemen­t levy and bond issue that will appear on the March 17 ballot, while Gabler will provide a district financial update.

Schneider and Dupee will focus on 2019 village highlights and upcoming projects/activities in 2020 including an update on the new police station and Union School Park.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Mayor’s Office on the third floor of the Town Hall; Bremke Insurance, 104 S. Main St.; Fifth Third Bank, 161 E. Herrick Ave.; and Main Street Wellington office, 118 W. Herrick Ave.

Tickets must be purchased by Saturday, March 7.

The buffet breakfast will be served by the Fraternal Order of Eagles.

Starting this year, Kiwanis’s new signature project is to raise funds for community playground equipment. Proceeds from its recent Pancake Day sales, the State of Wellington breakfast and the Morris Furcron Memorial Nut sale will be used to replace and build playground­s at Westwood Elementary School, the Union School Park and the Wellington Recreation Park. The club will continue to provide local scholarshi­ps.

Wellington’s Fraternal Order of

Eagles will be the platinum sponsor for the State of Wellington breakfast with Forest City Technologi­es, the Edward Jones’ Wellington office and Norton-Eastman Funeral Home serving as gold sponsors.

Dr. Kenyon Glor, DDS, Armstrong Group, and Kyle Bremke Insurance are silver sponsors.

Wellington Kiwanis meets at noon the first and third Thursday of each month at Bread-n-Brew Restaurant on the square in downtown Wellington.
