Recorder’s office receives United Way Caring Cup award
The winner for the United Way of Greater Lorain County Caring Cup award was the Lorain County Recorder’s Office with an average gift amount of $59.78 and 90 percent participation.
Lorain County Recorder Judy Nedwick was presented March 10 the Caring Cup by Ryan Aroney, United Way of Greater Lorain County president and CEO, and Lorain County auditor Craig Snodgrass, who chairs the competition, during a ceremony at the Lorain County Administration Building, according to a news release.
“The Recorder’s office is very happy to receive this, and very proud of our staff,” Nedwick said. “Next year, we’ll make it 100%.”
Each year, the departments of Lorain County government have a friendly competition to see which department can raise the most to support United Way of Greater Lorain County’s collaborative approach to powering community transformation, the release said.
The department that wins the competition receives the Caring Cup traveling trophy with the department’s name and year engraved on it.
The winning department keeps the trophy on display in its office throughout the year.
The Caring Cup has gone back and forth between the Treasurer’s Office and Recorder’s Office since the start of the competition four years ago.

Finishing behind the Recorder’s Office were the Treasurer’s Office, the Auditor’s Office and Lorain County Public Health, which also raised the largest dollar amount for any department, the release said.
This year’s total Lorain County government campaign raised $16,605 in employee contributions, which rates as a top 20 campaign for United Way of Greater Lorain County.
