The Lorain County Girls High School All-Stars basketball game has been canceled.

Following the announcements regarding the OHSAA state and regional tournaments March 10, the Lorain County Girls Basketball Coaches Association announced it would be canceling its annual allstar games.

The four games featuring players from Lorain County schools were set to take place at North Ridgeville High School on March 15.

North Ridgeville head coach Amy Esser said in an email March 11 that the decision was made in conjunction with the North Ridgeville athletic director.

“With the governor’s statements today in regards to mass gatherings we have decided to cancel Sunday’s All Star Game,” she said. “This has been an impossible decision that (Avon coach) Meghan (Larrick) and I did not want to make.”

Alongside the decision to cancel the all-star games, the Coaches Association also announced it would be postponing the announcement of the Lorain County Miss Basketball award.

The presentation of the award was set to take place before the senior allstar game. An announcement on when the award will be presented will be made by the Coaches Association at a later date.

The awarding of county division players and coaches of the year, and the scholarships associated with those, will also be affected because of the decision. Esser said the Coaches Association will attempt to find the best way to get the awards to the players and coaches, over the upcoming weeks.
