Rockin’ on the River announces 2020 schedule

- Staff report The shows take place at the Lorain Port Authority Black River Landing waterfront festival site in downtown Lorain.

Rockin’ on the River will have a bunch of bands and even more fans at 17 shows in summer 2020, according to concert series planners.

On March 16, fears of spreading the novel coronaviru­s canceled the scheduled news conference to announce this year’s Rockin’ on the River lineup.

But founder Bob Earley and his team published the 2020 schedule online.

New this year is the River City Pop Culture Fest, an all-day event Aug. 15 starting at 11 a.m. and with live music beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Earley and Jason Miller, co-owner of Altered Realm Production­s, have described the event a day-long celebratio­n of pop culture movies, music, stories, heroes, memorabili­a that leads up to a Rockin’ on the River concert that night.

It will feature live music, indoor and outdoor vendor space for dealers and artisans, food, cosplay and more.

There also will be an Independen­ce Day party July 4 with the bands Changes in Latitude - the Jimmy Buffet Tribute and My Drunken Uncle.

For the remainder of the summer, Rockin’ on the River has the following list of bands.

June 5 - Living on a Bad Name - A Tribute to Bon Jovi, with The Michael Weber Show

June 13 - Wish You Were Here - The Sight and Sound of Pink Floyd with Colin Dussault’s Blues Project

June 19 - 7 Bridges, the World’s Greatest Eagles Tribute Band and Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute

July 3 - ZOSO - The Ultimate Led Zeppelin Experience and Ball & Chain - the Ultimate Janis Joplin Experience

July 4 - Changes in Latitude - the Jimmy Buffet Tribute with My Drunken Uncle

July 10 - Atomic Punks A Tribute to Early Van Halen with Back & Forth - Foo Fighters Tribute

July 17 - Shining Star Earth, Wind & Fire Tribute with Old Skool

Admission to the shows is $5, with a few exceptions.
