All-GLC boys hoops squad unveiled

The Great Lakes Conference boys basketball all-conference selections are out. Area teams including Bay, Elyria Catholic and Fairview were well represente­d.

Fairview’s Luke Howes took home Player of the Year honors, and Warriors coach Ryan Barry was coCoach of the Year.

Fairview put together a solid season, winning a share of the conference title with Holy Name. The Warriors’ season came to an end in the district semifinal round with an overtime loss to Warrensvil­le Heights. Fairview ended their season with an 18-6 overall record, coupled with a 13-3 conference record.

Elyria Catholic got hot at the right time and made a run in the tournament. The Panthers defeated Oberlin and Crestwood before falling to Warrensvil­le Heights in overtime in a district final. The Panthers ended their season with an 18-7 overall record and an 11-5 record in the conference.

Bay took down Lutheran West in overtime in a sectional semifinal before falling to top ranked Cleveland Central Catholic in the sectional final round. The Rockets finished their season with a 10-14 overall record and a 7-9 conference record.
