All-GLC boys hoops squad unveiled
The Great Lakes Conference boys basketball all-conference selections are out. Area teams including Bay, Elyria Catholic and Fairview were well represented.
Fairview’s Luke Howes took home Player of the Year honors, and Warriors coach Ryan Barry was coCoach of the Year.
Fairview put together a solid season, winning a share of the conference title with Holy Name. The Warriors’ season came to an end in the district semifinal round with an overtime loss to Warrensville Heights. Fairview ended their season with an 18-6 overall record, coupled with a 13-3 conference record.
Elyria Catholic got hot at the right time and made a run in the tournament. The Panthers defeated Oberlin and Crestwood before falling to Warrensville Heights in overtime in a district final. The Panthers ended their season with an 18-7 overall record and an 11-5 record in the conference.
Bay took down Lutheran West in overtime in a sectional semifinal before falling to top ranked Cleveland Central Catholic in the sectional final round. The Rockets finished their season with a 10-14 overall record and a 7-9 conference record.
