Mercy says virus cases go to flu clinics
For those who may not have a primary care provider, Mercy Health has advised people go to the local flu clinic to have flu-like symptoms evaluated.
For Lorain County, that location would be the Lorain Flu Clinic, previously the Mercy Health Heart and Vascular Institute, at 5077 Waterford Drive in Sheffield Village.
These flu clinics, also located in other parts of Ohio like Tiffin, Cincinnati, Toledo and Lima, were designated by Mercy Health for anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms, according to Jonathon Fauvie, public relations and communications manager.
“The flu clinics are designed to evaluate and treat patients with flu-like symptoms,” he said.
“Mercy Health recommends that people who are experiencing flu-like symptoms to either call their primary care provider or visit our local flu clinics.”
Additionally, Mercy Health has opened a 24/7 hotline dedicated to answering the public’s questions regarding novel coronavirus,
also known as COVID-19.
The line is made for nonemergency calls and can be for those who have COVID19-related questions, are showing possible symptoms or has been in contact with someone diagnosed with COVID-19.
COVID-19 restrictions
Additionally, Mercy Health has put restriction on visitors to its facilities to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Senior services and longterm care locations are also included in restricted facilities.
As for mother and baby and pediatric patients, visitors can be taken one at a time but are limited to a designated partner or primary caretaker or guardian
“Exceptions will be considered based on end-of-life situations or when a visitor is essential for the patient’s emotional well-being
and care,” said an update on Mercy Health’s website. “We recognize that this can be disappointing to our visitors, patients and residents, and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you or your family.
“The health of you and our patients/residents is our top priority.”
