Girls swimming and diving all-stars unveiled

Led by the swimmer of the year, Bay sprint freestyle standout Maja Miedza, the 2020 Morning Journal girls swimming and diving all-stars are unveiled, as we continue to honor the winter’s best.

GIRLS SWIMMER OF THE YEAR Maja Miedza

Bay, senior

Miedza placed sixth in 50freestyl­e (23.98) and 10th in 100 free (53.63) at the Division II state meet. At the district meet, she was third in 50-yard free and sixth in 100free.

COACH OF THE YEAR Gabby Kariotakis, Bay

Kariotakis had the Bay 200medley relay (10th place) and 200 free relay (12th place) at the state meet, while also coaching swimmer of the year Maja Miedza to improvemen­ts in her finishes at the state meet a year ago. The Rockets finished 16th at the state meet in Canton and second overall at the D-II district meet in Akron.
