Library begins curbside pickup

- By Staff report

Avon Lake Public Library, 32649 Electric Blvd., began May 12 offering curbside pickup for requested items.

While the building will remain closed to the public until further notice, the library is offering this safe and convenient opportunity for the public to continue enjoying the materials in its collection, according to a news release.

The library’s new motto is “See you at the curb!”

The first step is to place items on hold.

Library card holders can place holds in a variety of ways: through the online catalog; by emailing info@alpl.org; or calling 440-933-8128.

For children’s material bundles, email juvdesk@ alpl.org or call 440-9338917, the release said.

The second step is to wait for a call from the library that the request is ready.

Allow one business day for available requests to be processed, the release said.

The new curbside hold pickup will operate from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Friday and Saturday.

The third step is to pick up materials.

To pick up requests, patrons must park in one of the newly marked curbside pickup spaces, then call the library to let a staffer know they’re on site, the release said.

The last step is for patrons to wait inside their car while a library staff member brings out their item and places them in the trunk of their vehicle.

Those without a cell phon should, call before leaving home and provide an estimated time of arrival.

The virtual library and catalog is available 24-hours a day, seven days a week at alpl.org.
