Radio stations to help county’s homeless animals

Radio stations “Gold Country” WOBL 1320AM/107.7FM and “Kool Kat Oldies” WDLW 1380AM/98.9FM will host a 12-hour radio-thon to raise awareness and funds to help homeless animals in and around Lorain County.

“Radio to the Rescue Soul Mate Pet Radio-Thon 2020” will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., May 20, according to a news release.

The stations are inviting people to tune in to 12 hours of special programmin­g that will include songs about animals, pet awareness messages and names of local people and their soul mate pets, with each hour sponsored exclusivel­y by a local business, the release said.

Listeners can tune in on radio or stream at www. woblradio.com and www. wdlwradio.com.

They also can download the free Gold Country Kool Kat mobile app.

On-air personalit­ies will be available during the entire radio-thon to take calls as people pledge to help the animals by using their credit cards, the release said.

All donors to the radiothon will be entered into a drawing for a selection of gift cards from several local businesses.

If you have a soul mate pet, or a heart pet as they are sometimes called, that lives with you now or that you recently lost or when you were a child, and you would like to hear your and their name mentioned during the radiothon, send your name, city of residence, the pet’s name and breed to Wilber at lawilber@oberlin.net by May 18.
