The Morning Journal (Lorain, OH)

Summer reading program begins

- Staff report

The Lorain Public Library System’s 2020 Summer Reading Program will be slightly different this year as it will be all online and at home, but it will be just as much fun, according to a news release.

The Summer Reading Program kickoff will take place June 6 with a special virtual story time featuring a princess from the Fairy Tale Foundations and a virtual family dance party with some of its favorite songs, the release said.

The “LPLS Recommends” blog, found on the home page of LorainPublicLibrary.org, will feature lots of family- friendly crafts and ideas that aspiring superheroes will love, according to the release.

Registration will open June 6 and the program will run from June 8 to through Aug. 8.

Register at LorainPublicLibrary.org or by calling your branch; also, remember to register if you want to be eligible for prizes.

Game boards will be distributed through curbside service and can be printed from the library website.

There are three different, but similar, game boards so families can read and play along together.

One is blue, one teal and one orange.

Playing is easy; choose an activity from your game board.

When the activity is complete, color in the circle; when you complete four activities, you are eligible for a prize.

Prizes are available while supplies last and can be distributed through the library’s curbside service.

Patrons are asked to call ahead for curbside prize pick-up.

There is a limit of four prizes per person and all prizes must be picked up by Aug. 30.

Once you’ve earned your four prizes, continue to play for fun.

Curbside Service will not be offered May 25 in observance of Memorial Day and it will resume at 1 p.m., May 26, at all six branches. For more information, visit LorainPublicLibrary.org or email AskALibrarian@lpls.info with specific questions.
