Another summer season at Lakeview Park is in full swing as folks gathered on the beach June 12.

The beach serves as a return to normalcy despite the novel coronavirus pandemic. Patrons can enjoy the weather and the quality beach located at 1800 W. Erie Ave. in Lorain.

Kim Arbour, of Norton, was one of the beachgoers who brought her 2-yearold daughter, Lennie Lou, to enjoy all that Lakeview has to offer.

“We were just looking for a beach to go to, so we Googled it and decided to come here,” Arbour said. “Along with the beach, it has a playground and concessions. It’s really a nice place.”

Arbour said she also likes the safety that Lakeview provides.

“There are also lifeguards here, which is really important for how young my daughter is,” she said. “When searching for beaches, there was also Nickel Plate Beach (Huron).

“They don’t have lifeguards there, and there was that drowning last year (Brittany Young drowned July 21, 2019). So, I just felt like this was the better option.”

“I’ve been here a few times, and it’s just a nice beach that’s nearby."

Arbour said it was her first time at the beach.

“It was about an hour drive from Norton, which is just outside of Akron,” she said. “But, it is a really great beach and I think we will make the trip again.

“It was good to get out. We had been cooped up (for COVID-19), but I felt it was the right time to get out. We should be able to go out if everyone just practices safe habits.”

Erica Taylor, a Uniontown resident, was at the beach with her 3-year-old daughter, McKenzie.

“This is a really quality beach,” Taylor said. “I’ve never been before.

“I worked in Amherst (Enterprise Rent-A-Car) for a while. I always drove past it, but I never stopped by. It’s really nice, we don’t have anything like this where we live.”

Jessica Gower, 16, a junior at Brookside High School, also was among the beachgoers.

“I’ve been here a few times, and it’s just a nice beach that’s nearby,” Jessica said.

“I feel like there is enough space out here that people can be safe (from catching COVID-19).”
