- Staff report

Main Street Amherst, with help from Main Street Lorain, Main Street Wellington and the Oberlin Business Partnership, will have come back kits ready for businesses by the end of the month.

The come back kits include hand sanitizer, gloves, masks, paper towels, hand sanitizer dispensers and disinfectant, according to a news release.

Each Main Street in the county will share guidelines for receiving the kits in their communities.

“The effort took over a month to bring to fruition,” said Teresa L. Gilles, said executive director of Main Street Amherst. “The Main Streets are grateful for the support and positive feedback we have received.

“There are so many unknowns in the world right now, but rest assured, this effort is a testament to how much our funders, my colleagues and I want our local businesses to succeed.”

Gilles reached out to other Lorain County Main Street organizations to help create a way to help defray some of the extra costs associated with the new novel coronavirus pandemic reopening guidelines, the release said.

She applied for grants and gained financial support from Community Foundation of Lorain County, Nord Family Foundation,

Nordson Foundation and the Lakeland Foundation to create come back kits.

Main Street Lorain, Main Street Wellington and the Oberlin Business Partnership assisted Main Street Amherst with sourcing local suppliers and seeking additional donations, according to the release.

The Cleveland Clinic Foundation donated 700 face masks for the kits, the release related.
