Robert Callaway, Midview: Callaway made history in 2019, as he became the first Midview cross country runner to qualify for the state championsh­ips in 35 years. Callaway — who started his high school career doing just track and field — qualified for the state championsh­ips after he finished 22nd at regionals with a time of 16:38 before finishing 83rd at state with a time of 16:35.

Jamie Dailey, Bay: One of the most decorated runners in Bay history, Dailey had a record-setting senior year. At the Great Lakes Conference meet in 2016, Dailey broke the course record with a 15:48. He followed that up with runner-up finishes at the district (16:21.88) and regional (16:35.93) meets before finishing eighth at the Division II state finals with a 15:52.8. Dailey is entering his senior year as a member of John Carroll’s cross country team.

Denver Daniel, Open Door: After finishing 26th at the D-III regionals in 2015, Daniel put it together his senior year. The Lorain County runner of the year in 2016, Daniel finished 19th at state in D-III with a time of 16:22.8. The same year he finished fifth at regionals with a time of 17:01.6. Daniel ran at Cornerston­e University upon graduation.

Austin Fasciana, Avon:

A four-time state qualifier, Fasciana started his cross country career off with a bang in 2010 when he was the fastest freshman at the state meet with a 19th place finish. Fasciana finished his career as a two-time All-Ohio selection while also being named to first-time all-conference three times. Fasciana ran cross country at the University of Akron upon graduation.

Khaled Hamil, Bay: A three-time state qualifier, Hamil made his mark during his four years on Bay’s cross country team. After finishing 153rd in the state as a freshman, Hamil came into his own as a runner as an upperclass­man, as he finished 23rd in the state his junior year before finishing 14th in the state in 2019 with a time of 16:11.

Josh Hill, Amherst: One of the best runners to ever grace a course in Lorain County, Hill finished his career in 2017 with a third-place finish at the Division I state meet with a time of 15:47.5 along with capturing a Southweste­rn Conference title, district
