Boys & Girls Clubs to distribute clothing to youth
Staff members from Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio’s Lorain County branch will assemble about 3,200 bags of clothing for distribution to youngsters throughout the county in September.
The distribution is a partnership between the clubs, Lorain County commissioners and the county’s Department of Job and Family Services, according to a news release from the Boys & Girls Clubs.
Federal Temporary Assistance for Needy Families, also known as TANF funds are used to purchase and distribute the clothing, the release said.
Each child will receive about $350 worth of clothing.
The bags will be assembled between 8 a. m. and 3 p.m. weekdays from Aug. 24 through Sept. 4.
Clothing bags will be distributed to those who ordered them starting Sept. 11 at the Desich Family Campus, 4111 Pearl Ave. in Lorain.
Families could choose from a uniform, play or combination package, according to the release.
Depending on the family’s selection, the child will receive a book bag, gym shoes, 3-in-1 coat, khakis or joggers, polos or T-shirts, hoodie sweatshirt, socks and hats, the release said.
The distribution will take place on five dates at two club sites, the Desich Family Campus, and the Elyria South Community Center, 1821 Middle Ave. in Elyria, on the following times and dates: 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 11; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 12; 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sept. 18; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sept. 19; and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sept. 21.
