Elyria mayor to meet with providers

-

Elyria Mayor Frank Whitfield is inviting area childcare service and youth program providers to meet with the city again on Aug. 28 to discuss their unique needs and challenges as they work to support families throughout the health crisis.

Providers will also be talked through the Public Service Application for CARES Act Funding, according to a news release.

Interested organizations and individual providers are invited to register for the first meeting which will take place at 11 a.m. through a link on the city’s website.

Elyria planning to host Shred Day

The City of Elyria is sponsoring its annual Community Shred Day from 9 a.m. to noon, Aug. 29, for residents to safely destroy personal records, financial documents, business proceedings, and more.

Residents can bring their private documents to the parking lot behind Elyria City Hall located at 131 Court St.

There is no charge for this service but residents are asked to bring only paper items; no garbage or folders. There is no need to remove paper clips or staples.

Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, participants will be asked to stay in their vehicle at all times. Helpers will be on hand to unload the items. Simply drive in, follow the orange cones, and watch as documents get shredded before leaving.

This Shred Day is sponsored by Lorain County commissioners through the Lorain County Solid Waste Management Reimbursement Grant.

Those with questions can contact Elyria Chief of Staff Ren Flanders at 440326-1400.
