Social Security needs to become pension program
Senator Portman and Senator Brown, I am sending you an open letter which I am also sending to several newspapers in Ohio so that the issues I am raising can be discussed not just between a staff aid of yours and me but out in the open before all citizens of the state of Ohio and particularly among those in the private economic sector who are being grossly cheated by the current Social Security program as opposed to those who are in the public employment sector who are exempt from Social Security taxes.
It is time for equality and fairness in retirement savings programs.
I was recently informed of proposed improvements in savings possibilities toward retirement. However, the real problem is the current Social Security
program itself.
The problem is this tax and benefit program needs to be changed into a pension savings program.
The current government disability insurance program should be removed from the Social Security program and a separate program established, and SSI should be removed from the Social Security program as well.
The investments of a new Social Security Pension Fund should be invested in financial instruments that return far more than 30-year Treasuries.
Basically, the SS Pension program should look like the Federal Employees Retirement Plan when reforms are made. Finally, there should be no federal tax on returns from the program as taxes have already been paid on contributions to the program in the first place. The federal income tax on up to 85% of Society Security benefits depending on income is double taxation and must end.
The federal government is cheating people in the private employment sector who are under the current Social Security Program.
Congress has given employees in the public sector special privilege by allowing them to be exempt from Society Security. This is discrimination against private sector employees. If senators and House members will not make the needed changes you will be discriminating against private sector employees. Please explain what you will do to establish a totally new Social Security Pension Program.
Also, I am calling on you both to support Sen. Ron Johnson’s efforts to get documents from the State Department on correspondence and meetings under the Obama-Biden administration wit Burisma and its representatives in Ukraine and release them so Ohio citizens can know what really went on.
