Painesville Township trustees have donated 350 masks to Project Hope for the Homeless, which is located in the township.

The decision to donate the masks came from their availability throughout multiple township departments such as the fire department and the service department in Township Hall, said township Administrator Mike Manary.

“Our township has a very good supply of face masks,” he said. “We had 350 that were available, brand new, still wrapped up.”

Manary said that the services provided by Project Hope helped the trustees make the decision to donate the masks.

“We know Project Hope very well,” Manary said. “They pack anywhere from 30 and 50 people into their facility. It’s a very nice, small charity.”

Township Trustee Gabe Cicconetti said donating to the homeless shelter was a way to give back to a part of the Painesville Township community that helps those who need it.

“We know that (Project Hope is) helping so many people in our community and they have so many people coming through there,” Cicconetti said.

He also said that another reason for donating to Project Hope came from the trustees wanting to make sure those who do go to the shelter to receive care can do so while following proper COVID-19 protocol.

“We want to make sure that they are following the mandate set by the government and keeping everybody healthy as possible so that they can contribute to provide the service to so many people in the community,” Cicconetti said.
