The opening weekend of the high school football playoffs is in the books.

Area teams that won their opening round playoff matchup — as well as those who were on a bye — now know their opponents for this weekend.

The playoff schedule for Oct. 16 looks like this:

Division II, Region 6

• Top-seeded Avon was scheduled to host 16thseeded North Olmsted. However, the game was called off due to a positive COVID-19 test within the program. Pending Ohio High School Athletic Association approval, Avon is looking to add a game against Perrysburg to its schedule. The Eagles would host the Yellow Jackets on Oct. 16.

• Third- seeded Avon Lake plays host to 14thseeded Wadsworth

• Sixth- seeded Olmsted Falls is hosting 22ndseeded North Royalton

The Oct. 17 playoff schedule looks like this:

Division IV, Region 14

• Fourth- seeded Keystone will host 13th-seeded Milan Edison

• Tenth-seeded Firelands is traveling to seventhseeded Napoleon

Division V, Region 18

• Fourth-seeded Elyria Catholic is set to host 13thseeded Oak Harbor

Division VI, Region 21

• Thirteenth-seeded Columbia will travel to fourthseeded Mogadore

For those area teams that were eliminated from the playoffs last weekend, their seasons do not automatically come to an end like a normal season. If they choose, they are permitted to schedule more games as long as all games are competed by Nov. 21. Here’s how the non-playoff schedule is shaping up to look like on Oct. 16:

• Bay (1-4) travels to Perkins (2-5)

• Elyria (1- 6) heads to Berea-Midpark (2-5)

• North Ridgeville (0-7) travels to Westlake (3-4)

• Oberlin (0-6) heads to Brookside (1-6)

• Fairview (1-4) hosts Valley Forge (3-2)

• Vermilion (1-6) travels to Wellington (2-5)

As of Oct. 12, Amherst, Clearview and Midview do not have games scheduled for this weekend.

In other scheduling news, Midview announced Oct. 12 that it added an away game against Elyria to its schedule on Oct. 23.
