Three groups to host drive-thru trick or treat to delight local children
Lorain is getting into the Halloween spirit with three groups coming together to provide children with candy for the holiday.
The Latin American Motorcycle Association, the Lorain Arts Council and Brother’s Bond will pass out candy at 6 p.m., Oct. 30, at 737 Broadway in downtown Lorain.
All of the candy will come in sealed packages and guests will remain socially distant.
Antonio Barrios, president of the Lorain Arts Council and member of the Latin American Motorcycle Association, said the organizations are excited to present the event.
“The Latin American Motorcycle Association is about giving back to the community,” Barrios said. “We’re always trying to come up with events to help those around us.
Additionally, the Arts Council is looking to expand its reach andmore citizen interaction, he said.
“The Lorain Arts council is looking for ways to become relevant in the community,” Barrios said.
The event is centered around giving children a fun and exciting experience while maintaining safety, he said.
“Kids want to dress up,” Barrios said. “They want to do something.
“With everything closed, we wanted to give the children something fun to look forward to, and something they canwear their costumes to.”
With Halloween festivals, events and activities cancelled due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, Barrio
said there’s a need to give area children a chance to feel and experience joy.
Cars will line up in a queue on Broadway and children can hop out the cars, receive the candy and show off their costumes.
Barrio said there’s going to be a few members from both
groups dressed up in costumes and wearing masks for safety purposes.
“It’s exciting to see three organizations from different worlds teaming together to make this happen,” he said. “There’s always a possibility to do something socially distanced and safely.”
