Ravens sign Bryant to practice squad

-

Former Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant has moved one step closer to playing in the NFL again.

The 31-year- old Bryant signed with the Baltimore Ravens on Oct. 27 and has been assigned to the practice squad.

Bryant last played in 2017, when he had 69 catches for 838 yards in his eighth and final season in Dallas. He signed with New Orleans in November 2018, but tore his Achilles tendon before getting into a game.

Now he’s on the cusp of getting back on the field.

Drafted 24th overall by Dallas in 2010, Bryant was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2013, 2014 and 2016. He has 531 catches for 7,459 yards and 73 touchdowns.

After scoring a careerhigh 16 TDs in 2014, Bryant endured two straight injury- shortened seasons before playing in 16 games in 2017.

He put up some impressive numbers with Dallas, but was sometimes perceived as a distraction because of his outbursts on the sideline during games and in the locker room. He was released by the Cowboys in April 2018.

BARCA MOVING TO SACK PRESIDENT » Barcelona is waiting for authorization from local officials before holding a referendum that could lead to the ouster of club president Josep Bartomeu and his board of directors.

Club members have called for a motion of censure against Bar t omeu and t he board, but the club said Oct. 26 it can’t hold the vote until of f icials authorize it amid the coronavirus pandemic. More than 110,000 club members are entitled to vote, but the Spanish government last week declared a state of emergency because of a surge in the number of coronavirus cases.

“We asked how we could guarantee the safety for everyone, voters and workers,” Bar t omeu said after the meeting of the board of directors on Monday.

The original plan was to have the referendum take place next week at the Camp Nou Stadium, but the club had yet to receive a formal answer from officials. Bartomeu said it wanted more time to schedule the vote in different locations instead of a centralized vote at the Camp Nou.

Many expected Bartomeu and his board to resign before the censure vote takes place.
