Lorain Lions Club served enthusiasts for an annual pancake breakfast with a twist: a 2020 drive-thru.

Pancake breakfasts were served to go by the Lorain Lions Club Nov. 1, bringing in hundreds of cars to pick up their orders.

The event was at Italian American Veterans Post 47, 4567 Oberlin Ave. in Lorain.

In a little over two hours, the club had served 300 breakfasts, with about 300 more breakfasts to go, according to first vice president Edward Baker.

The club had sold 650 tickets for the breakfasts, which were passed out in carryout boxes in the post’s parking lot.

Despite the weather, Baker said turnout was healthy.

“Usually we serve about 600, so this is actually on par,” Baker said. “It’s going real smooth. We had to borrow a couple hundred cones to get people steering in the right direction, but it’s working fine.”

The event, which fed each person for $5, is a semi-annual fundraiser for the club that’s been going on for the past 16 years, said Baker.

Some of those breakfast orders were in large quantities, with one car picking up 20 meals and a handful of others picking up 10 each.

Each breakfast came with four pancakes, four sausages, syrup and butter.

“We haven’t had any delays that’s more than five minutes, so it’s working really well,” Baker said.

The event was also bringing in more donations than previous years, with the club usually collecting around

$200 of donations.

Baker estimated that the club may see up to $300 to

$400 more in donations.

Roberto Cobos, who will be president of the club next

year, said it’s been good to see the city of Lorain show support for the Lions Club.
