Two Lorain men were arrested following a chaotic house party Jan. 17 at which a gun was pointed at police officers. At 12:15 a.m., officers responded to the 2900 block of Loretta Court for parking violations due to a large party at a residence in a cul-desac, according to a Lorain police report.

Vehicles were parked in the cul-de-sac and lined up along West 29th Street causing traffic obstructions.

People were walking throughout the area and it was apparent more than 100 people were gathered inside of the house, so officers began clearing the area, the report said.

Officers noticed the attached garage door to the residence opened by a 6-foot tall black man, wearing black clothing, with short dreadlocks who pointed a handgun in the direction of police across the street, the release said.

The man then turned and pointed the gun at two officers who were about 20 feet away from him, according to the report.

Officers took cover on the sides of the house and formed a perimeter. The man retreated into the crowded house. Officers described the scene as very chaotic with about 50 people still inside the home with the man possessing the firearm. A man exiting the front door refused to cooperate with officers’ commands and was inciting a crowd.

He looked like the man who was pointing the gun, but no gun was found, the report said. The man was transported to Lorain County Jail on obstructing official business and resisting arrest charges, both second-degree misdemeanors.

Officers tried to call one person at a time from the home, but a large group exited in quick succession.

Officers stopped Jajuan Malone Jr., 22, from Lorain. Officers found he had a warrant for contempt of court - aggravated riot, so he was handcuffed.

Before he was placed in the cruiser, he got free and ran, the report said.

Malone stopped running at Ashland Avenue, according to the report. He was charged with obstructing official business, a fifth-degree felony, and with resisting arrest, the report said.

Malone is in the Lorain County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear at 1:05 p.m. March 11 before Lorain Municipal Court Judge Mark Mihok.

No weapon was found in a search of the home.
