Invest Elyria seeking vendors for farmers market downtown

- By Lyric Aquino laquino@morningjournal.com

Invest Elyria is back after a year off due to the novel coronavirus pandemic and will host the Elyria Farmers Market.

This year, it will take place at Ely Square from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturdays, starting June 19 and concluding Sept. 11.

“We’re looking for vendors,” said Mary Bryan, executive director of Invest Elyria. “We need produce, that’s key.

“You want produce at a farmer’s market, and we also want to have artisan crafts and other hand crafted products.”

The market, which has operated under Invest Elyria since 2014, aims to bring business to the local economy and give families a fun place to enjoy the nice weather, Bryan said.

“We want to bring people into downtown to shop locally and give them a friendly family atmosphere while boosting the economy,” she said. “Many vendors run small businesses out of their homes and this gives them a chance to sell their products to different audiences.”

If interested in becoming a vendor, read the information at investelyria.org on the Farmers Market page.

The Elyria Farmers Market only will allow direct sales vendors and small business vendors on select Saturdays.

For more information, call Bryan at 440-506-5987 or contact her at m.bryan@investelyria.org.

All weekly/seasonal vendors must bring their own canopy, tables and chairs; there will be some additional canopies available.

The market will feature locally grown and prepared foods, artisan crafts and homemade goods.

“People are more comfortable this year than last year, and events are taking place,” Bryan said. “Overall,

I think there’s been improvement in the virus, and I think this will be a nice place for vendors to sell their products for the 13 to 14 weeks we have.”
