Main Street Lorain is partnering with local businesses to celebrate National Teacher Appreciation Week from May 3-7.

Sales, discounts and deals are available to teachers and support staff at several local restaurants and shops in downtown Lorain throughout the week, according to a news release Main Street Lorain.

Restaurants participating

The following restaurants and bars will offer discounts throughout the week: Speak of the Devil; Union Town Provisions; Dodie’s Dockside; Juice Me Juice Bar; and Domino’s Pizza, according to the release.

Shops and groups

Additionally, the following shops and institutions will have sales and giveaways: Erie Treasure’s; Lolipop’s Gift Shop; and the Lorain Public Library System Main Branch.

“We all have a friend or family member who teaches, and we know they do so much for our kids and throughout the community,” said Main Street Lorain board member Candice Pettigrew, who organized the event, in the release. “After the year that they have been through with the (novel coronavirus) pandemic and the stresses of quickly switching to virtual learning, we needed to find some small way to say thanks.”

Tag opportunity

Friends and family also can tag their favorite teachers on Main Street Lorain’s Facebook and Instagram posts for a chance for them to win a gift bag full of supplies and prizes, the release said.

Teachers and support staff must show their school identification card/ badge and inquire at each location as to the specifics of each discount offered, the release said.
