Dennis R. “Rick” “Julio” Zimmerman 62, of Berlin Heights passed away Saturday May 1, 2021, unexpected­ly following a brief illness. He was born on August 4, 1958 to Elmer “Al” and Carol Zimmerman.

Rick was a 1976 graduate of Admiral King High School. He was a fan of all Cleveland sports teams, and especially The Ohio State Buckeye football team.

After high school he enjoyed playing softball and golf. He had a passion for animals and could frequently be found feeding strays along every path he took. Rick held several jobs over the years and was most recently employed by Sandusky Packaging.

He will be deeply missed by his mother Carol (nee Gray) Zimmerman of Lorain, and his siblings Gay Swope (James, deceased) of Lorain, Ron of Lorain and Scott (Jamie) of South Amherst. He also leaves to cherish his memory nephews Cory (Jon) and Brandon, nieces Brittny and Amanda, along with great nephews Brayson and Nolan. His memory and fun loving, teasing nature will also live on with his extended family and friends throughout the Sandusky area.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Cora; his father Elmer "Al" Zimmerman and both maternal and paternal grandparen­ts.

His family will receive friends at Richard J. Reidy Funeral Home, 1783 East 31st Street, South Lorain (440) 277-8164 Thursday May 6, 2021 from 9am until 11am funeral service. Burial will follow at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Township.

His family suggests contributi­ons be made to the Friendship Animal Protective League, 8503 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, Ohio 44035.
