Twin Flames back in cabaret
FireFish Festival kicks off month of activities
Fire Fish is kicking off a month of activities in honor of their annual festival.
“The FireFish Festival traditionally has had all kinds of cool things happening on one day but we’ve spread them out,” said Joan Perch, founder and interim director.
The first showcase was a musical cabaret performance by the Twin Flames, Lorain natives Jacylyn Bradley and Melissa E. Driscol with John Bronston on the keys, at 5 p.m. at “The Bank,” 383 Broadway Ave. in Lorain.
It was the first show in the building since renovations.
The pair first connected in 1992 when Driscol was Bradley’s musical director for the local production of Peter Pan.
“We’ve been inseparable ever since,” said Bradley. “This is the first time we have sung together in many years. To be performing with her back in our hometown is very, very special.”
Both artists have performed globally and professionally for decades.
Driscol is the daughter of former Lorain staple Driscol Music Company owner Theodore “Ted” Driscol and choreographer Jeddie P. Driscol.
The two electric performers put on a dynamic show including references to what they loved most about Lorain.
Throughout the month FireFish will host an event each weekend to spotlight artists and creative outlets.
“We just want to give people an opportunity now
to see the things happening in downtown Lorain that they haven’t had a chance to see before,” said Perch. “We just want to enhance what’s already going on in our city.”
The Fire it Up! Broadway
Block Party Art Walk will take place Sept. 3 during a Main Street Lorain First Friday Block Party.
“We’re bringing in the Ohio Burn Unit who will be twirling and burning,” Perch said. “We’ll have an
art gallery, chalk walk and many activities for everyone.”
