John “Ken” Kenneth Laposky Sr., 79, of Vermilion, died Monday, September 6, 2021 surrounded by his family at Mercy Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.

He was born March 30, 1942 in Cherokee, Iowa and had been a Vermilion resident for the past 53 years moving from Alexandria, VA.

Ken was a proud veteran of the US Marines.

He worked for Ford Motor Co., Lorain for 30 years retiring in 1998. After his retirement from Ford, Ken continued to work. He spent the last 10 years as the service technician for Redwood Living at the Vermilion location.

Ken was a member of St. Mary Catholic Parish, Vermilion and also a life member of AMVETS Post #22. Ken served on the Vermilion Parks Board and the Vermilion Recreation Department for 15 years. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family, especially his grandchild­ren.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia “Pat” (nee Miller) Laposky of Vermilion; daughter, Michele (David) Beckett of Galena, OH; sons, Ken (Sue) Laposky, Jr. of Wellington and Michael (Michelle) Laposky of Fishers, IN; grandchild­ren, Jonathon (Katie), Olivia, Aubrey and Sam Beckett, Nick and Jill Laposky, and Mac and Lucas Laposky; and his brother, Paul Laposky of Kingman, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Velma (nee Steigh) Laposky and his sister, Marilyn Tigges.

A private memorial service will be held at Riddle Funeral Home. Private inurnment will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery with the Vermilion Veterans Council presenting Military Honors.
