-

Stephen Paul Tammaro, age 82, of Lorain, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on the morning of Sunday October 10, 2021 following a brief illness. Born in Lorain on April 2, 1939, Steve was a life-long resident of the city and a 1957 graduate of Lorain High School.

He had been employed as a quality control inspector at General Motors Corporation’s Fisher Guide Division in Elyria and subsequently at the company’s Brook Park Complex for more than three decades; he retired in 1995.

A parishioner of St. Mary Catholic Church, Steve was a devoted caregiver to members of his own family as well as those of his late wife, Charlene. Family remained a vital element in his life and he took great pride in being omnipresent for any and all special events, especially those of his three grandchildren.

Described by friends as a man of impeccable integrity, he was a self-taught musician who possessed an encyclopedic knowledge of classical jazz music. Steve formerly played the drums with the Versatones and that love of music formulated an everlasting bond with his friends.

When not involved with family events, Steve prided himself on health and fitness. He took daily forty-minute walks at Lakeview Park as well as throughout his neighborhood. Additional interests included woodworking, downhill skiing, flower and vegetable gardening, traveling and reading with a special interest in biographical works. Steve also possessed an aptitude for building and remodeling and was never reluctant to assist family and friends with their projects whether painting, dry-walling, or carpentry.

He is survived by daughters Stephanie Fligner (Ben) and Michelina Rozar (Dean), grandchildren Zachary, Gavin, and Vivienne, sister Amelia Reph, and brothers Joseph and Lucio.

Steve was preceded in death by his wife Charlene (nee Kleinholz) in December of 2020, parents Antonio and Filomena (nee Pometto) Tammaro, brothers Michael and Louis Tammaro, and sisters Rosetta Nicholson, Nancy Richardson, and Matilda Jakubowski.

Visitation with family will be Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church – 310 8th Street, Lorain. Reverend Daniel O. Divis, pastor of the parish will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, North Ridgeville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are encouraged to the St. Mary Food Pantry.

Arrangements are under the direction of the GluvnaShimo-Hromada Funeral Chapel. To share your memories with the Tammaro Family, please visit www.gluvna.net.
