MaryAnn Provenzano Martz, 64, of Lorain, formerly of Vermilion, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 2021, at Mercy New Life Hospice, following a year-long battle with cancer.

Born April 16, 1957, in Norwalk, MaryAnn worked for her parents at Ellie’s Family Restaurant in Vermilion for many years. She also worked for the W.G. Nord Center and Echoing Lakes in Lorain County as well as Riverside County Mental Health in Indio, Calif.

She was a courtappointed special advocate (CASA) for children through the county Domestic Relations Court. She was a poll worker on election days.

MaryAnn was a compassionate, outgoing, fun person who loved children and animals, especially her rescue dog, Lou Lou. She was a member of Harbourtown Community Foursquare Church and enjoyed Bible studies and other church-related activities. Anyone who met MaryAnn was a friend for life.

MaryAnn was preceded in death by her parents, Phil and Ellie Provenzano. She is survived by a large number of friends, cousins and family too numerous to list, including cousins Sue Bley of Gulfport, Fla., and Kathleen (Matt) Willbond of Elyria. She was proud to be a Vermilion Sailor.
