Santa’s invited to Christmas Brunch

Chef planning Dec. 18 event in Elyria

A new Christmas tradition is underway in Elyria.

Chef Jefe Catering LLC, led by Chef Jeff “Jefe” Seats, is holding its first Christmas Brunch on Dec. 18.

Seats, 25, is a native of Indianapol­is, but relocated to Lorain County over a decade ago.

“I’ve loved to cook since I was a child, and as I grew up I realized I could turn my passion into a business,” he said. “I took the time to perfect my craft and everything just skyrockete­d.”

Seats specialize­s in seafood dishes and sells his sauces, which are made from scratch.

He attended culinary school but also considers himself to be self-taught.

“I’ve been catering for about four years now,” Seats said. “I also do a lot of meal prepping and daily meals.”

Bistro in Elyria, 645 Taylor St. Tickets, including a full brunch, are $15 for adults and $8 for children ages 10 and under.

The holiday-themed brunch will have activities and an opportunit­y for children to visit with Santa Claus.

“Anyone and all ages are welcome, but it was important for me to invite Santa Claus since the holidays are among us,” he said. “I love the adults, but I want to see the smiles on the children’s faces.”

Seats said he has a heart for the youth.

“I have a passion to help and service the youth in our community,” he said. “I just wanted to do something for families that no one else has truly done yet.”

Seats has been holding a series of youth culinary classes, The Kids Table, for the past three years.

“Children ages 7 to 17 are invited to learn to cook,” he said.

“We have live demonstrat­ions and allow them to prepare their own supervised meals from start to finish.”

Participan­t’s fee is $75 which includes the threecours­e meal, gift bags and any other materials they may receive.

“I also bring in different chefs to speak with the kids,” Seats said.

“It’s just a good time, and very beneficial for everyone involved.”

The next youth class will be held on Jan. 8.
