Crop comments: Olmsted Falls remains at the top of the Crop and in the Southwestern Conference after their 25-point victory over SWC contender North Ridgeville. The biggest shakeups in the Crop are in the middle of the pack. After the Rangers loss to the Bulldogs, they drop one spot, but they quickly bounced back with a 52-35 win over Brunswick in the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse on Monday. Westlake entering the top five with their 73-29win over North Olmsted, and took an undefeated Medina Highland (8-0) to overtime before the Demons fell 41-37. They have an undefeated record inside Lorain County, but they continue to play well against some of the top talent in the area. Entering the past Saturday, Dec. 11, Rocky River struggled to score points after their defeat to Elyria Catholic. They Pirates barely scraped by Avon Lake on the road. But, against their rivals Bay, they found their scoring stride in their 58-47 win over the Rockets to put the Rockets at 2-5. Vermilion lost their second game of the season to Sandusky after winning seven games with the dynamic scoring of Marianna Plas, who became the fourth Sailor to surpass 1,000 points and their hard-nosed defense. Keystone has become a team to watch recently. The Wildcats were searching for answers after their buzzer-beater loss to Mapleton in late November. After the loss, they’ve won five straight games, and are 3-0 in LC8. They have an opportunity to go into Christmas break with a 7-game winning streak and with games against LC8 opponents Oberlin, and Clearview. Midview, in their week, won against Lorain and Amherst. Avon won against Elyria on Saturday, and Elyria Catholic demolished Fairview 90-16.
