Lorain - Mary Ann “Mae” (nee Downie) Treboniak, 93, passed away December 19, 2021 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain after a short illness.

She was born July 20, 1928 in Glasgow, Scotland, coming to Lorain as an infant.

Mae graduated from Lorain St. Mary High School in 1946. She married Aloysius “Ollie” Treboniak on May 7, 1949. They raised 5 children together. She was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain, St. Francis Xavier Mission, St. Peter Disciples, as well as volunteeri­ng for the Catholic Charity Center and Community Hospital. Mae retired from the attendance office at Admiral King High School and loved doing demos at Giant Eagle for One to One.

Her family and faith were everything to her. These were closely followed by the enjoyment Mae got from casino trips, slot machines, and being the “Queen of Lottery Scratchoff­s”.

She is survived by her loving children, Lois, Larry (Karen), Mary Ann Kretovics, Joyce (Rick) Jones, and Cathy (Mike) Hollohazy; 8 grandchild­ren; 8 great grandchild­ren; sistersin-law, Patty Downie and Tessie Wrzesinski; brother-in-law, Stanley “Butch” Treboniak; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Aloysius “Ollie” Treboniak; parents, John and Mary (O’Brien) Downie; sister, Betty (Dick) Svat; brothers, John “Jack” and Patrick “Bud” Downie; brothers-in-law, Anthony, Edward, Rudy, and Joseph; and sisters-in-law, Helen, Sophia, and Rose.

Mary Ann’s family would like to thank the aides and nursing staffs at Mercy and Avon Hospitals, as well as Mercy New Life Hospice for the kindness, care, and compassion they offered to all of us at this time.
