Cosimo “Pete” Sansotta, age 73, of Avon Lake passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at Avon Hospital Cleveland Clinic.

He was born on September 10, 1948, in Locri, Italy to Giuseppe and Maria Sansotta. At the age of 12, Pete began apprentice barbering in his village in Italy and at the age of 14 moved to Milan to continue his career as a barber. He immigrated to the United States in 1968 and received his board certificat­ion and began his 50 plus year career as barber at Dom & Luigi’s Barber Shop in Lorain, retiring in 2020.

For several years he was a member of the Star Builders bowling team, he enjoyed watching all of the city of Cleveland’s profession­al sport teams, The Ohio State Buckeyes, and most especially his children and grandchild­ren’s soccer games. His greatest joy was spending time with his family.

Pete is survived by his wife of 53 years, Immacolata “Meca” (nee D’Agostino); sons, Marco (Pamela) Sansotta,

of Avon Lake, and Dino (Carol) Sansotta, of Avon Lake; grandchild­ren, Dominica, Michael, Anthony, Emilia, and Tera; brother Leonardo (Bruno) Sansotta, of Italy; and his sister, Immacolata (Peter) D’Agostino, of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Giuseppe and Maria Sansotta; sister, Rosa; and brothers, Salvatore, Antonio, Domenico, Vincenzo.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, from 4:00 -8:00 p.m. in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. (MASK ARE REQUIRED). Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 29th. at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Ave., Lorain. Rev. Father Craig Hovanec, Pastor, will officiate. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Avon.
